February 2016 Citizen of the Month – Nicola Bridges

Written by on February 13, 2016

February 2016 “Citizen of the Month” goes to local Ramona resident Nicola Bridges because of her tremendous work at Capability Ranch. Nicola was nominated by a lady named Sheri and below is the nomination email we recieived.

Her story is on the site. My reason for nomination is: My 23 year old special needs daughter has activities available through Nic’s awesome program. Her story is a heart break that she has turned into a mission of love. She works so hard to keep it running. Appreciation shown by this award might fuel her cause even more.

Nicola has started Capability Ranch after the tragic death of a son, leaving her and her husband with one other son who has autism. Their website states..

After our oldest son Jack, 21, suffered a life-threatening traumatic brain injury in March 2013 and sadly passed in away in November 2014, leaving us with our son, Owen — 20 and autistic — it hit us that life is short and truly fleeting, and we needed to intentionally change our lives to do something more impactful and fulfilling that gives back. We decided to take the plunge and act on our dream to help those with autism and other developmental delays in a meaningful way.

Capability Ranch does puts on a lot of great activities for people with developmental and physical disabilities. We are really proud that Nicola was nominated and won this months “Citizen of the Month”. Keep up the great work Nicola!
