Recently I was contacted by Montecito High School Construction Dept. teacher Nick Jordan; about his students getting ready to go to competition for their spectacular skills at building and construction. So, Dave and I went over to Montecito High, met some of Mr. Jordan’s students, took some pictures; and found out everything this group of fine young adults has going on.
Mr. Nick Jordan is a tremendous teacher and it certainly shows, not only in his teaching skills; but also in the way he treats his students. We should know because Mr. Jordan was our Citizen of the Month for June 2016, all because many of his students nominated him; CLICK HERE to read about it.
The Montecito High School Construction Dept. is going to competition on January 28th 2016. If they place at the first competition, then they go to state, then to Nationals; and finally a competition called “Skills”. On February 3rd, they will be holding a fundraiser selling some of their crafty and very skilled work. The fundraiser will be held at Montecito High School form 4-6 p.m. We will give you details closer to the fund raiser. All money raised will go toward their travel expenses for this wonderful competition.
One of the things that are built in Mr. Jordan’s class are these astonishing wooden chairs. The one pictured to the left was painted pink for breast cancer awareness, and two were donated for breast cancer awareness benefits.
The smaller prototype was designed by Luis Lozano and built by Luis and Tayler Petersen. The smaller chair was so perfect that they built and donated ten of them to Hansen Elementary.
Have a look at the great things Mr. Jordan has his students building this year at Montecito High School. They are doing some really great work and learning skilled trades. You will be able to find and purchase some of these things at their fundraiser.
