Update 10/2/2017 – 8:40 a.m.

This just came to us form the Olive Peirce Middle School Facebook page.

It is with deep sadness, I share the news that Mr. Estrada, a teacher at Olive Peirce Middle School has passed away. We were informed of this news earlier last night by his wife who agreed this information should be shared with our school community, so we can come together to confront this tragic news and help soothe our students and staff. Mr. Estrada had been hospitalized for several weeks fighting cancer. Tomorrow morning we will have counseling services available on campus for students and staff, and these support services will remain in place as long as necessary.

We are sorry to have to share this tragic news, but we wanted to make sure that you heard directly from the school about this loss. We want you to know that we have been in touch with the family and I have not only pledged our support but also that we will work to protect their privacy as they deal with this devastating situation.

Please know the entire staff at Olive Peirce Middle School will be vigilant in our attention to all students’ needs. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to call me at 760-787-2400.

It was just this past Friday Sept. 29th 2017, that my daughter came home and told me that a teacher was very sick. By Sunday Oct. 1st, reading through my Facebook; I see a lot of post from mutual friends that this teacher Sergio Estrada had passed away.

Although I had never met the man, you can see from the many post that he had touched countless lives. I do not know all the details, nor do I think it is appropriate to post on our website out of respect for his family. We here at Ramona Town Radio wish to send our condolences and prayers to Mr. Estrada’s family, friends; and students.

It was just last year that my daughter was graduating 8th grade from Olive Pierce Middle School; and I got video of Mr. Estrada playing a wonderful rendition of our National Anthem on guitar. Please see below.
